Training

Training begins at four weeks of age. Puppies are introduced to collars and leads, as well as abnormal sounds & objects. We use a positive reinforcement method for the puppies. In our opinion this is the most successful way of training the Boerboel as this method uses a positive approach.

By the time your puppy is old enough to leave his first home (8 or 9 weeks) he will know how to walk on a lead, he will have traveled in a car visiting various places (e.g. other peoples homes, taverns, & the local zoo in Olmen) and he will also have been socialized with other breeds of dogs.

This will help reduce the ‘stress’ of leaving his littermates, being put in a strange car and finally ending up in completely new surroundings.

Prospective Siglensāl puppy owners are expected to follow our puppy workshop, which entails teaching you how to look after and train your Boerboel puppy. We also provide you with a complementary copy of The seven ages of your dog by Jan Fennell  which in our opinion is the most important book you'll ever read if you're interested in owing a dog!
